Vineyard Residence -Yamhill County, Oregon

Located on a butte in a 125-acre vineyard, this homesite maximizes views of the vineyard and surrounding mountain coastal range. Shapiro Didway designed a unique, elegant outdoor environment that provides a peaceful transition between the Northwest style home and the adjacent agrarian landscape. The firm designed a series of bluestone terraces around the house, each with its own visual identity and all linked by an extensive water feature. The water source is a custom-built stone soaking tub, whose cascades form a series of ponds linked by a naturalistic stream. All of the boulders used throughout the property were hand-selected and placed. The finished garden complements the structure through its naturalistic forms and materials.
