Shapiro Didway LLC is an office of Portland landscape architects that integrates minimalism and geometrical form to create sustainable spaces of distinct visual character. Principals Steve Shapiro and Blair Didway provide professional services in the fields of landscape architecture and urban design.

Our purpose is to serve and partner with clients to create striking landscapes. This client orientation takes many forms. We create the graphics and models necessary to inform client decision-making and facilitate effective design collaboration. To ensure high quality work, our Principals design and manage every project the firm undertakes. Construction documents are detailed, clear, and built on deep technical expertise, allowing hassle-free construction. And without exception, we adhere to project timelines and budgets. We have extensive experience working with architects, facility planners and engineers on a wide variety of urban design, campus design and residential landscape design projects.

Our team’s creative and technical expertise drives our excellence in landscape design. We are registered to practice in Oregon, Washington and California, and accredited for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED). Our staff brings over 40 years of design experience to its work, including a decade under renowned Robert Murase. Our training in landscape architecture, design, and environmental science comes from University of Florida, Texas Tech University, Stanford University, and Harvard University’s Landscape Institute at the Arnold Arboretum. The firm is a certified Emerging Small Business, and a member of United States Green Building Council and the American Society of Landscape Architects.

We embrace our role as environmental stewards. As landscape architects we work at the nexus between the built and natural environments, and believe that elegant and sustainable design solutions are discovered there. Our designs are shaped by this understanding of landscape architecture as a fusion of design and stewardship.
